Project description
The main purpose of this Skill Needs Assessment was to set out the results of a comprehensive research programme which sought to assess the skill needs facing businesses within the Asset Skills sector, which covers the Housing, Property Services, Facilities Management and Cleaning sectors of the economy.

The skills needs assessment included identification of:

• The size and structure of employers and a detailed workforce profile;

• The key drivers of demand influencing skill needs in the sector. It also highlights issues concerning sector productivity at a national and international level;

• The nature and composition of the sector's current skills needs, including recruitment issues and skill shortages, skill gaps and retention and labour turnover. Particular attention is also paid to the qualification levels of the sector;

• A vision of the future for the Asset Skills sector, including bespoke employment projections created for the sector, followed by themes from the scenario planning events; and

• Priorities for action for the short, medium and longer term, based on the evidence featured in preceding six chapters of the 'Skills Needs Assessment'.
