A labour market information resource for head teachers, collegiate co-ordinators and others involved in providing careers support to young people

Project description:
LMS were commissioned by Birmingham and Solihull LSC to undertake a programme of research to develop an easily accessible information resource for use by head teachers, collegiate co-ordinators, careers advisors and others involved in providing career related advice to those aged 14-19.

The project was split into two main components:

  • Firstly an overall labour market information resource, disseminated to head teachers and collegiate co-ordinators by CD-ROM


  • Secondly, a programme of research focusing on four key growth areas, these being:

          ~ Creative Industries
          ~ Professional and Financial Services
          ~ Public sector
          ~ Retail, Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism

    This programme of research included the following key elements:

  • A Review of sources of careers and related information
  • Information on the Birmingham and Solihull and Regional labour market
  • Career routes within key growth sectors
  • Case studies

    • The output was an easily accessible web based LMI resource.
