Improving the performance of Salisbury College

Project description:
The purpose of the research project was to provide analytical and consultancy support in identifying ways that Salisbury College could improve its performance. A particular focus of the research was to understand much more about the profile of learners from Salisbury attending FE Colleges outside the District. The research also sought to inform options for attracting learners to the College both from within Salisbury District and outside the area.

The research involved detailed analysis of ILR data for 2002/03 and 2003/04 in relation to both 16-18 and 19+ age groups including analysis and cross tabulations on the following:

  • Ward of residence
  • Programme Area
  • Gender
  • Area of Learning
  • Ethnicity
  • NVQ level of course
  • Type of course
  • Delivery Mode

    • The research project also involved analysis and comparisons with a number of 'competitor' colleges within surrounding LSC areas.
